COL has partnered with the Organisation for Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and Diversity and Ability UK (D&A) to build the capacity of a cadre of 50 OECS educators across six small states such that they can evaluate, select and use assistive technology appropriate for special education needs students in their countries. As a result of the training delivered through D&A, the educators will make recommendations to OECS Ministries of Education regarding which devices and software to procure and how they can best be utilised. The project also includes a coaching component to strengthen capacity among selected educators who will serve as future trainers to provide support and deliver short training workshops on selecting and using assistive technologies. As a result of the project more students with special education needs will benefit from access to assistive technologies.
