The Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth (VUSSC) celebrated another milestone in June. The first group of students graduated with Diplomas in Sustainable Agriculture from the National University of Samoa. The programme is geared toward teacher training. All graduates are now in full-time employment.
The National University of Samoa also hosted a VUSSC Training and Materials Development workshop earlier this year, for member institutions to develop a programme to help alleviate teacher shortages in small states. Open educational resources for a Postgraduate Diploma in Education have now been produced, and many countries have already shown interest in offering the programme.
