Introduction to Technology-Enabled Learning (TEL) is a massive open online course (MOOC) designed for teachers in secondary education, post-secondary education and vocational education. Using up-to-date learning design and simple, accessible technology, the course runs on an easy-to-use learning platform available via the Internet.
The course, which starts on 6 November 2017, is designed for teachers who want to build on their knowledge and practice in teaching and learning with technology. It will run over five weeks and requires approximately three to five hours of time each week. The course offers flexibility with options for learning the content, in order to accommodate teachers’ busy schedules.
You will learn from readings, videos, discussions with other participants and instructors, meaningful exercises, quizzes and short assignments. Certification is available for those who wish to complete all required exercises and quizzes.
Dr Sanjaya Mishra, Commonwealth of Learning’s Education Specialist: eLearning, said: “The first offer of the TEL-MOOC in early 2017 attracted over 1,100 participants and was highly successful with over 60 per cent active learners. We are looking forward to yet another large enrolment in this edition, especially from the Commonwealth countries”.
The course is led by Dr M. Cleveland-Innes and Dr N. Ostashewski, both from the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University in Alberta, Canada.
