The fourth massive open online course (MOOC) on Introduction to Technology-Enabled Learning (TEL), offered jointly by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and Athabasca University (Canada), commenced on September 22, 2019 and will run till October 26, 2019. In its first week, the course has attracted over 1,400 participants from 65 countries, including 25 non-Commonwealth nations. Of these learners, about 53% were female teachers, and the highest number of registrants were from Fiji, Bangladesh, India, Canada, Jamaica and Barbados.

TEL MOOC 4 covers issues relating to integrating technology in teaching and learning at the secondary, post-secondary and vocational education levels. It requires a commitment of about three to five hours per week on the part of the learner in a flexible learning environment and has been designed to accommodate different schedules. By the end of the course, participants are expected to gain knowledge and skills needed to blend appropriate technologies and online resources, including open educational resources (OER), to improve student learning.

According to Dr Sanjaya Mishra, Education Specialist: eLearning, “97% of current participants in TEL MOOC 4 hail from 40 Commonwealth countries. In the last three iterations of the MOOC, over 7,500 individuals have benefitted from this course.”
