23 August 2022, Burnaby, Canada – With less than three weeks to go, the 10th Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning is gearing up for an exciting and informative event.
Co-hosted by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and Athabasca University (Canada’s Online University), PCF occurs from September 14th to 16th, 2022 and brings together researchers, educators, policymakers, practitioners and thought leaders from around the world every three years to find innovative ways to empower people through learning that leads to economic growth, social inclusion and environmental conservation.
This year’s conference will include the participation of over 400 senior experts, government dignitaries, senior experts and policymakers including several Commonwealth ministers, and Her Excellency Ms Afioga Fiamē Naomi Mataʻafa, Prime Minister of Samoa.
The Covid-19 pandemic has underscored yet again the importance of technology and open, distance, and online learning for providing access to quality education. A comprehensive body of knowledge and experiences on what worked and what did not has been gathered for the Forum in about 370 presentations.
This one-of-a-kind educational conference is designed to answer timely, topical and newsworthy questions, such as:
- How can governments and institutions scale up teaching and learning to make up for the learning loss and strengthen education?
- How can institutions build systems and processes for lifelong learning that are financially sustainable to educate and skill a large number of people? What can civil society do to prepare citizens to meet the challenges of the 21st Century?
- What else needs to be done to create a sustainable educational infrastructure that is resilient in the face of pandemics, unrest and natural disasters?
COL’s President and CEO, Professor Asha Kanwar, commented on what attendees can expect at PCF10: “Because this forum is a confluence of policy-makers, practitioners and experts, participants are in for a real feast of ideas and innovations in an environment that will foster lasting friendships and collaborations.”
2022 promises to be the biggest and best PCF to date. Registration for this year’s event is still available in-person or virtually. Click below for details.
