Three Commonwealth of Learning (COL) experts, COL President and CEO, Professor Asha Kanwar, Education Specialist for eLearning Dr. Sanjaya Mishra and COL’s Director for the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, Dr. Ramesh Sharma, contributed to the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) report Quality models in online and open education around the globe: State of the art and recommendations.

The report examines the current standards and guidelines for open, distance, flexible, and online education, including e-learning around the globe and encompasses the fundamental notion that students are active participants in an engaging learning experience. Based on the research, the report makes 11 recommendations to stakeholders concerning the enhancement and advancement of open education.
