The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) recently shared its Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) models with Papua New Guinea‘s (PNG) Department of Higher Education, Research, Science & Technology (DHERST). These models are designed to increase access to quality tertiary education and to skills training for marginalised and disadvantaged youth.

At a meeting with COL’s Education Specialist: TVSD, Dr Alison Mead Richardson, PNG’s Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Honourable Pila Niningi, expressed appreciation for COL’s support and looked forward to a strong partnership. DHERST Secretary, Dr Fr. Jan Czuba and 30 staff from the Department attended the meeting.

“An important element of the models is to benefit from the use of open educational resources. I hope that PNG higher education institutions would continue to be both producers as well as consumers of these resources,” said Dr Mead Richardson.
