Commonwealth of Learning (COL) President and CEO Professor Asha Kanwar met with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Education, Honorable Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and the Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr Sunil Hettiarachchi recently to provide an update on COL’s work in Sri Lanka. This work is focused on the development of education in the country, especially in the areas of gender, higher education, lifelong learning for farmers, open educational resources and teacher education.

The Minister appreciated COL’s work and requested further technical support for the implementation of capacity development and human resource development programmes for teachers and educational personnel.

COL values its partners in Sri Lanka and will continue to provide technical support and expertise to assist the country with meeting its educational priorities.
