The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is supporting the implementation of blended learning at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI). A capacity-building workshop on ‘Blended Learning Design Using Moodle’ was held in March 2018 as a follow-up to the visioning workshop held earlier.
The workshop was inaugurated by UMI’s acting Director General, Dr Kasozi Mulindwa and facilitated by COL consultant, Professor Ng’ambi from the University of Cape Town. Dr Mulindwa thanked the 20 participants from the Institute for their commitment and zeal in advancing technology in teaching and learning.
On the outcome of the workshop, a participant said: “I learnt that technology is an enabler to teaching and learning. The purpose of the teaching and learning should be made known to learners, and technology comes in handy to achieve that goal.”
The workshop was aimed at improving educators’ capacity in designing blended learning courses using Moodle and exploring the different functionalities and tools of the Moodle Learning Management System, including managing resources in multiple media, integrating open educational resources with the courses, as well as creating learning activities and assessments.
