Dr Jyotsna Jha Ananthamurthy joined COL as the Director: Skills in November 2023. Dr Jha has extensive experience in leadership roles in education, public policy, skills development and research.
Prior to joining COL, she headed a think tank on public policy and budgets in India for more than a decade before which she worked with the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. Recognised as an Education Champion for Girls’ Education by the Malala Fund in 2017, Dr Jha is deeply committed to promoting inclusive and quality education. She has been a member of the South Asian Regional Reference Group of UNICEF for intellectual leadership and upstream policy advice, the Editorial Advisory Board for Aarthik Charche – Fiscal Policy Institute (FPI) Journal of Economics and Governance, and the Central Advisory Committee on Education Sub-committee for the Right to Education to Secondary Education in India. She also served as the Member and Vice President of the first Association for Public Policy Education in India, playing a role in shaping the landscape of public policy education.
Dr Jha holds a Ph.D. in Economics of Education from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. She has several books, book-chapters, and papers to her credit.
